Creativity versus Commercialism

I wanted to take a minute to discuss why I have decided to publish my own work. I asked an editor today about finding an editor who is fully invested in the author's vision and whether their own egos get in the way. His reply was kindly enough. He explained that the author and editor collaborate on story ideas and cutting up the original manuscript. However, he did admit that sometimes egos clash.
Since, I have strong opinions and faith in my concepts, I realize that my problems with the publishing entity as a whole are mine and theirs. They are a box in which I do not fit. And lo and behold, that's okay. I don't want to sound like every other author out there.
So, I could have given up. That's not my style! I have the solution at my fingertips. I have my own website lambdapublishing.com where I'm sharing some of my works. Also, I have this blogsite to expose my views on the world, life and of course my search for true love.
I want to start a dialogue, so don't be afraid to voice your opinions!
Yours sincerely,
Laura Hyatt
